January 27-February 1 7th Grade Science

7th Science- As we finished up muscles on Friday with skits (each group of two had to make up a skit that used and mentioned and described all the muscles we had just learned in class-they were quite amusing!) we now move on to studying our largest organ-our skin! Look for a test coming up probably about Thursday this week!

January 27-February 1 6th Grade Science

6th Grade-As we will wrap up our lab on minerals on Monday (and hopefully everyone will take home their crystals Monday as well!), we get ready to move on to rocks and the rock cycle. The students will have a chance to polish rocks on their own using a rock tumbler and will be creating games to help them remember the rock cycle.

January 27-February 1 Chemistry

Chemistry-As we wrap up our unit on 'movie special effects', we get ready to move into an entirely new unit called 'cooking chem.' Again, the Active Chemistry book that we use is very creative in the way that it teaches concepts through labs instead of doing labs to reinforce concepts learned in lecture.

January 27- February 1 Biology

Biology-After finishing a week of Evolution and Creation, we will finish up Monday discussing the reasons why God has created this magnificent world in 7 real days-not 7 million years! We will dive into the evidence that abounds to support this idea. We will be finishing up creation by Wednesday and moving on to study bacteria and viruses starting on Thursday.

January 27-February 1 8th grade

8th grade- We have just begun our electricity and magnetism book. Friday was spent making short skits using at least four examples of static electricity as an 'effect'. We also are starting to study all the different ways many animals use electricity as an attractant for prey as well as a deterrant for predators!

Report Cards Home Wednesday

Just a reminder that all parents should expect to see report cards on Wednesday! Hopefully this is good news you get to bring home. If not, make a decision to make next quarter different! Set goals for yourself! Study an extra 15 minutes a night, make notecards for tests, something that will help improve your grade and most importantly study skills! Best of luck next quarter!
